I was thinking it would be great to have some simple app that would give you a daily alert, picking a random font from your computer’s font library. Something really simple, kind of a “hey, remember me?” message.
Well, I don’t have time to write that app. Maybe someday I will, but for now I can use MyFonts Surprise Me. Following this link will open a random font’s page on myfonts.com:
It’s pretty fun and has the added bonus that my dream app doesn’t have: introducing you to fonts you don’t have. So to make it even more fun and give me more opportunies to be distracted from work I’ve set the Surprise Me link as my Firefox default home page. Now every time I fire up my browser or open a new browser window I get introduced to a random font. Sometimes an old friend, other times someone new.
